Citizenship Application

Citizenship Application

Program Description:

The Citizenship Program’s goal is to award Canadian citizenship to qualifying permanent residents. Many immigrants to Canada aspire to earn Canadian citizenship because it is a highly prized status, and those who have done so feel proud of their citizenship. An individual must apply after fulfilling specified eligibility requirements, such as residing in Canada as a permanent resident for at least three years in the previous five years, in order to become a citizen of Canada.

Key Program Highlights

A permanent resident who has been in Canada for at least three of the previous five years and meets all other eligibility requirements may be granted Canadian citizenship. The processing of citizenship applications helps immigrants successfully immigrate into Canadian society by increasing their capacity to engage in all facets of Canadian life.
